The heating element turns off after reaching the set temperature, but the fan continues to operate to evenly distribute the air. When the temperature drops, the heater turns on again thus the fan heater works fully automatically. An additional thermostat controls the fan motor operation. If the temperature inside the heater is too high, the fan will start even when the device is turned off to cool the housing.
