Overview

Essential in every workshop, the refractometer with the code KD10541 is a device that allows determining the physical properties of liquids by measuring the refractive index at the interface of media. It is designed to determine the freezing temperature of windshield washer fluid, propylene glycol coolant, and ethylene glycol. It also provides the electrolyte density range. The set includes a pipette for sample collection and a cleaning cloth. Everything is packed in a handy box. MEASUREMENT INSTRUCTIONS: open the plastic cover to access the prism using the pipette, place a few drops of the solution on the prism surface, close the cover so that the liquid is evenly distributed, wait about 30 seconds to allow the sample temperature to equalize with the device temperature, point the refractometer towards a light source and look through the eyepiece, read the value from the appropriate scale at the boundary between the white and blue areas (light/shadow boundary). Thanks to the focus adjustment, if the measurement image is unclear and does not allow reading, adjust the focus using the knob located behind the lens. To calibrate the refractometer before use: tilt the prism cover, using the included pipette, place 3-4 drops of water, close the cover and press so that the liquid spreads evenly over the prism without air bubbles, point the refractometer towards a light source bulb/sun/window, using a screwdriver, adjust the calibration screw until the boundary line between the white and blue fields (i.e., the light-shadow line) aligns with the WATERLINE indicated on the scale on the lens.
