Engine Timing Tool Set for FORD DURATEC ECOBOOST 1.6 SCTI TI-VCT
Engine timing lock for FORD 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT / EcoBoost SCTi
Engine timing lock for Ford 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT / 1.6 EcoBoost SCTi is an extensive tool set designed for precise positioning of the timing system during belt replacement, cylinder head repair and other operations that require disassembly of timing drive components.
The kit allows locking the crankshaft and camshafts, setting the VCT variable timing gears, positioning the crankshaft pulley and securing the tensioner. By using dedicated tools, individual engine components can be set to the positions required during the service procedure.
The entire set is placed in a

Kit components and their functions
Tool for setting VCT variable timing gears
Used to set the camshaft gear wheels of the VCT system in the required position.
Bar for setting camshafts
Long black profiled bar; its properly made cutouts engage the camshafts and allow setting the camshafts to the position required during timing adjustment.
Plate for setting camshafts
Long silver bar with characteristic cutouts. It is the second tool used to locate the camshafts, employed for certain engine variants.
Tool for positioning the crankshaft pulley
Used for correctly positioning the crankshaft pulley with the vibration damper.
Crankshaft locating pin
One of the black threaded pins. Screwed into the appropriate engine point it provides locking of the crankshaft in the required service position, preventing it from changing position during timing setting.
Locking / locating pin
The second black pin; used to lock timing system elements in a specified service position.
Crankshaft TDC locating pin
Silver cylindrical pin with a knurled gripping part; a tool to locate the crankshaft in TDC (GMP).
Tensioner locking pin
A small bent wire element used to hold the tensioning mechanism in the correct position during timing belt service.
Flywheel / crankshaft lock pin
An element of the system used to lock the flywheel, thus stabilising the position of the crank system during timing work.
Why is the timing lock needed?
In Ti-VCT/EcoBoost engines the correct relative positioning of the crankshaft and camshafts is critical when replacing the belt or disassembling timing components. The set enables mechanical locking of components in the positions provided by the service procedure, reducing the risk of incorrect phase timing.
