BMW M41 M51 M47 M57 M57TU Diesel timing lock
Professional timing lock and service tool set for BMW Diesel engines. The kit allows positioning and locking of the crankshaft and camshafts, securing the tensioner, and on appropriate units also enables work related to removal of the injection pump.
The kit covers several generations of BMW diesel engines, making it significantly more universal than a lock intended solely for M47/M57.
Application
Intended for the engine family M41, M51, M47, M47TU/T2 and M57TU/T2 in 1.8, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 Diesel units.
Depending on the engine version, the tools are used, among others, in BMW series 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, X3 and X5, and part of the kit is also suitable for Land Rover/Range Rover, Rover/MG and Opel/Vauxhall vehicles using related units.
Kit contents and purpose
Locating/locking pins:
- GMP crankshaft locating pin,
- flywheel locking pin,
- flywheel locking pin.
Reaction lever
Its purpose is to absorb torque when loosening or tightening a bolt on the timing wheel/element. The cutout at the end of the lever hooks onto the appropriate wheel element or locking tool so the mechanic can hold it stationary while working with a wrench.
Sleeve/nut for injection pump tool
A threaded, knurled element intended for servicing the injection pump.
Three tools for injection pump removal
A set of threaded adapters/pullers used during removal of the injection pump.
Two pins for securing the tensioner
Two thin pins used to position/secure the timing chain tensioner in the required position during timing system service.
Camshaft setting tool
A profiled plate used for setting/locking the camshaft.
Camshaft setting plate
Used to set/lock camshafts primarily in M47/M57 engines, working together with the holder/clamp.
